Are you worried about losing your home?

We have a few services listed that may be useful if you are worried you are about to become homeless.  These include: Knowsley Housing Solutions Team whose can offer advice and support based on your own circumstances; Shelter Merseyside who can provide specialist advice; Knowsley Citizen's Advice Bureau who can also supply housing advice.  Emmaus Merseyside is a homelessness charity providing more than just a bed for the night to people who have experienced homelessness and social exclusion.  You can also find information about Housing Benefit and if you are entitled by checking here.

Are you under 25 and looking for your first accomodation?

These services can help if you are under 25 and either at risk of homelessnes or just starting out on your own: Local Solutions - Supported Lodgings Knowsley - Support for young people age 16-19 who are potentially at risk of becoming homeless, SHAP - Knowsley Housing Floating Support Service - Housing support for 16-21 year olds and The Youth Enquiry Service (Y.E.S.) - The YES Project provides vulnerable young people with comprehensive housing advice, and general support to young people aged 16 - 25 who are either homeless, threatened with homelessness or are seeking accommodation for the first time. Knowsley Housing Solutions Team have information specifically for 16-17 year olds

Do you worry about the state of repair of your home?

If you have worries about the state of repair of your home your first contact should be your landlord or housing association e.g. Livv Housing Group formelly Knowsley Housing Trust (KHT) or ForHouseing  The Citizen's Advice have a page explaining what a landlord's responsibilities are.

Other housing related services that may be useful:
  • Energy Projects Plus whose aim is to help people reduce energy bills and to reduce levels of fuel poverty.  
  • Knowsley's Energy Efficiency page contains details of how to save energy as well as winter fuel payments and cold weather payments for older people. 
  • Irish Community Care Merseyside work with both the Irish and Irish Traveller communities.
  • Whitechapel Housing Trust who run a homeless family hostel for families who present as homeless but also have additional support needs.   
  • First Stop Advice offer advice & information to older people, their families and carers about housing and care options for later life.

If you are worried about your health affecting you being able to remain in your home? 

Live Well is a website managed by Knowsley's Adult Social Care and its aim is to help people to live as independently as possible within the community, it has a wide range of information about the different choices available to offer support to people when they need it most.

Knowsley Disability Concern can provide a range of practical services for disabled people including payroll advice on hiring carers.

There are also agencies that you can contact about getting in-home care (please note these are private companies that are not endorsed or recommended by Knowsley MBC and you will have to pay for the carer, they are only listed on this site to assist people to find them.  There are of course more companies that you can find by using a search engine).
