Starting School

It's natural to be anxious about choosing the right school for your child. The step from a small supportive nursery or pre-school to a primary school of several hundred children can be daunting, and even more so for a child with a disability or special educational needs. So it really helps to be well informed.  A good transition plan should be agreed with you, your child's SETTING and the school they will be attending.

Services that can also help at this stage are:

• Child Development Team (CDT) 
• Liverpool & Knowsley Special Educational Needs and Disability Information, Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS). provide impartial information and support over education issues to parents of children with Special Educational Needs and/or a disability.

• Knowsley's Children with Disabilities service supports children up to the age of 18 who have learning disabilities, a physical or sensory impairment.

• SEN Assessment & Commissioning  offer Help with Special Educational Needs and requesting an assesment. 

• Knowsley School Admissions Team

• Independent Parental Special Education Advice (known as IPSEA) IPSEA offers free and independent legally based information, advice and support to help get the right education for children and young people with all kinds of special educational needs (SEN) and disabilities.
