About the Knowsley Neurodevelopmental Pathway
Since 1st January 2021 the Knowsley Neurodevelopmental Pathway (NDP) has been managed and coordinated by leading mental healthcare provider, Clinical Partners.
Established in 2010, Clinical Partners work both privately and with the NHS to help people of all ages achieve better mental health outcomes, and were appointed based on their specialist experience supporting and diagnosing patients with neurodevelopmental conditions, including Autism Spectrum Disorder ( ).
What is the purpose of the NDP?
As NDP Coordinator, Clinical Partners has several key priorities:
- Ensuring children and young people who have been referred to the pathway for receive the relevant assessments by appropriate clinical professionals.
- Helping parents and carers navigate the pathway by offering a single point of access that provides helpful support and guidance throughout.
- Supporting professionals who refer children and young people to the NDP by providing them with clear guidance and communication at every step.
Who is the NDP for?
For assessments, the pathway is suitable for children and young people aged 3-18*.
Please note, services for Paediatric Therapies, CAMHS and adult Assessments remain with Mersey Care.

Accepted referrals
Clinical Partners can accept referrals from GPs, SENCos, or any other professional working with the child or young person. We do not currently accept referrals from parents.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder ( ) assessment via Alder Hey Childrens Hospital Trust
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder ( ) is a neuro-developmental condition where children have difficulty with attention and/or hyperactivity and controlling impulses. Their difficulties must be evident in more than one setting (for example, at school and home) and be significant enough to interfere academically and/or socially. Normally only School-aged children over age 6 are considered for assessment.

The Clinical Partners Parent Support Programme
The programme is packed full of useful information to help you and your child at every step. Through regular emails, Clinical Partners will provide you with useful tips to help manage day-to-day challenges and put you in touch with recommended support groups. There will also be free online events where you can listen to other parents and talk to clinical experts in live Q&As.
The Knowsley Parent Carers Voice (KPCV) is a group of parents and carers of children with special education needs and disabilities from Knowsley, and work in partnership with Education, Social Care and Health & Wellbeing services to influence and develop quality services for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and disabilities in Knowsley.
ADDvanced Solutions Community Network encourages, equips and empowers children, young people and their families living with neurodevelopmental conditions, specific learning difficulties and associated mental health needs.

Training
The Foundation: Neurodiversity Charity is running a series of live-streamed training sessions for educational professionals.
The webinars are applicable to all key stages and phases of education, including sessions that are specific to Early Years, Primary and Secondary settings. They also offer webinars designed for new entrants to the profession and Teaching Assistants. All the webinars will begin at 3:45pm and finish at 5:15pm and will include an opportunity for Q&A.
