Family First 0-18 years.

• Is one of the key resources delivering interventions to families with complex, interacting needs in line with Knowsley Family Policy, the national Troubled Families agenda  and the Early Help Strategy.
• The core offer of the service is the co-ordination and delivery of multi-agency interventions, based on whole family assessment and action planning to helping families achieve positive outcomes  for themselves while reducing the likelihood of  escalation to  high cost, statutory, crisis intervention services such as Children’s Social Care.
• Referrals can be made to the service from any source when outcomes for children are compromised by issues affecting parents and carers such as Domestic Abuse, Substance Misuse, Mental Health, Crime & Anti-Social Behaviour.

Families engaging with the service can expect a wide range of support either delivered directly by Family First Case Managers or through co-ordinated partnership.

Universal: Level 1Children having their needs met through accessing universal services such as schools, health visiting, GP and so on. Partnership Plus – Level 3: Universal Partnership Plus - Multiple/ComplexMulti-Agency planning and support (Team Around the Family) with a Lead Professional.  Specialist services for children and families with multiple needs such as intensive family support, specialist child and adolescent mental health services, and services for children with disabilities.

• Multi-agency working based upon a lead professional role to co-ordinate Team Around the Family ( The Team Around the Family (TAF) is a model of service provision where a range of different practitioners come together to help and support a child or young person. Essentially it is a ‘virtual’ team of involved professionals brought together – with the family’s consent – to devise a plan of action to support the child and their family. The plan of action is based on needs identified using the Early Help Assessment Form. ) approaches in supporting families with complex, interacting  social and emotional needs (level 3 on Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council thresholds)
• Support for families and children experiencing a range of issues
  • Early Help This involves building a picture of your child’s abilities, difficulties, behaviour, his/her special educational needs (if applicable) and the support required to meet those needs. A statutory assessment is a formal procedure which involves the collection of information from as many people as possible who have detailed knowledge about your child. undertaken
