Alzheimer's Society Knowsley Office

Around 850,000 people in the UK have dementia.  Dementia is not a normal part of ageing.  It’s caused by changes to the structure and chemistry of the brain. The chance of developing dementia increases with age.  If you’re affected by dementia and live in Knowsley, you’re not alone- Alzheimer’s Society is able to help.

Our specialist one to one service will help you get tailored information and advice from our compassionate and experienced staff, keep your independence and improve your well-being, covering topics such as: understanding a diagnosis, Lasting Powers of Attorney, benefits, local groups and carer support. Feel confident and supported knowing that someone is here for you when you need help. Contact us on the details below and ask for our Dementia Support Service.

We also have an activity group where you can meet people in a friendly, fun and social environment. This also includes a Love to Move session which is based around the principles of light cognitive and physical exercises designed to improve cognitive reserve. Held fortnightly from 3rd November on Wednesdays at 1pm-2.30pm at Whiston Town Hall, Old Colliery Road, Prescot L35 3QX.

We run a five week programme of support specifically for carers in Knowsley. The Carers Information and Support Programme provides information on all aspects of caring for a person with dementia in a small group learning environment. Carers are able to share their experiences and find out about local and national services that may be of help. CrISP is delivered by trained local staff. CrISP aims to improve the knowledge, skills and understanding of people caring for a person with dementia, by providing effective support and up-to-date and relevant information.
