As young people return (or don’t) to school and or college in England or face uncertainty about places or plans we are keen to make sure they and their families hear about this offer of free support. Please circulate the information below to your colleagues, families, young people and wider contacts who might benefit from the project. We know that impartial person centred support can make a huge difference to young people who are feeling “stuck” or “cut off” at this time.
Many thanks, Alice and the Time to Talk Next Steps team at NDTi
Time to Talk Next Steps
In July 2021, NDTi launched a three-year programme to support young people with additional needs aged 16-25 years across England with confidence building and motivation for the future. Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund this programme is specifically designed to reach young people who are experiencing anxiety, isolation and who have limited or no plans for the future post COVID-19.
A team of staff experienced in person centre approaches and with good knowledge of education, employment, social care and health systems, provide tailored support. Young people can into peer support, access online one to one sessions and get involved in coproducing training for professionals. The project is being delivered in partnership with national disability charity, Contact, who provide support, information and workshops for parents and carers on transition to adulthood. It is founded upon learning summarised in the Final Evaluation report of a similar project run during the pandemic called “Time to Talk”.
This support is available online to young people throughout the year and we hope that schools, colleges, families and support providers can sign post young people to this free support. Please forward this email to your contacts and direct them to our website - Time to Talk Next Steps website

MFRS Prince's Trust Team Programme
The Prince's Trust Team Programme is a 12-week course run at fire stations across Merseyside for young people aged 16 to 25 who are not in employment or education.
It aims to develop young people's skills to strengthen their job prospects. During the course they complete a week-long residential stay, a four-week community project and two weeks' work experience.
By working with other organisations such as Prince's Trust, we can unlock young people's potential and improve their confidence, motivation, skills and job prospects.
We want to help young people to get their lives working by giving them the opportunity to gain the skills and confidence they need to move on, and have fun in the process.
You can find further information and an application form on their website
