Adaptations and Equipment
The Centre for Independent Living (CIL) provides a number of services which can help people to live more independently, there is a range of equipment on display that local people can drop in and try out such as stair lifts, chairs, beds, mobility, bathing and toileting aids.
If you are Deaf or hard of hearing and live in the Knowsley Borough the can also provide equipment to support your daily life. They will arrange an appointment with you to visit your home and assess your needs and will tell you about the equipment available to overcome the difficulties you are facing.
For example you may be……
- Unable/struggling to hear the doorbell
- Unable/struggling to hear the television
- Unable/struggling to hear the telephone
- Missing part of conversation
- Unable/struggling to hear the alarm clock/smoke alarm
There is no requirement to book an appointment to visit the CIL showroom. You can just drop in.

They also hold a lending library of equipment and books that can support children with neuro-developmental conditions, such as Autism and ADHD.

Orthotics are fitted externally to the body to help people recover from or avoid an injury, or to support them to live with lifelong conditions. They can correct or prevent a physical distortion, stabilise joints, reduce pain, improve mobility, reduce the risk of injury and protect the body.
The Continence Service aim is to improve or cure bladder and or bowel symptoms for all age ranges of patients who have a Knowsley GP.
